Fog Distance Tricks.Time to expand the MCM tutorial again with a new entry from Avenger. The following section describes how to change your fog settings to increase the range beyond 1000m. Be careful though, increasing the range on all maps promotes sniping and puts off some players like my self who prefer a more ballanced game. So use this trick when its needed but not on every map. Variety is the spice of life after all :) If you change the settings manually in the Contents/missions/Your-mission/Your-Mission.data file you can set the distance as far as you want. This has been tested it up to 5km and it works . You just have to be sure to make all settings the same. I have also noticed that the Cosmo set of buildings will not disappear beyond 1000 meters. Remember you need to open and close the editor without loading the mission in again to compile these changes in to your map. Should you load the mission in to the editor then these changes may be lost. Here is an example of the K Belt Data file Bold text highlights the lines that need changing. The Italics Bold text is an exception to what Avenger describes and needs to be less then the other entries in order to make a natural horizon. Avengers figures are about right for this, 300m is more than enough to let things fade naturally. [gamedata] Remember this is an example take from Avengers kbelt map. You cannot just copy and paste the entire entry because it will not work. You must edit your own missions data file. |
