There was a Massive inactive user deletion today.
Roughly 1000 users that had not done anything were removed.
Also, I am going to change the system to something similar to how the engineering guild does it memberships.
Essentially, the membership will soon change to something like the following:
Guest: read only access to basic forums except the REQUEST for Pilot Membership forum / write access to nothing
Registered: read access to basic forums / write access to ONLY the REQUEST for Pilot Membership forum
Once a person requests access by ASKING for it in the Pilot Membership forum, then either myself or another admin will convert their membership to PILOT status.
Pilot: read access to all the standard forums, write access to all the standard forums, NO access to the the REQUEST for Pilot Membership forum.
Mechstorm Team: read / write access to all Mechstorm Team Forums.
How will this affect you?
If you are currently a registered user... you may find your self converted at some point this next week to "Pilot" status.
If you do not find your self in the pilot group, and you desire to be in the Pilot group... simply POST to the the REQUEST for Pilot Membership forum.
You may or may not be accepted.
What this does to reduce spam:
1. No one who is a legitimate member can post spam or they will be banned.
2. No one can see spam because spammers will be registered users, but NOT pilots or higher level.
3. Guests, and Pilots and higher levels cannot see the "request" forum, so only spammers and new members that have not been accepted YET will ever have to worry about spam. (unless a member chooses to spam, and then they get banned)
I think you guys will really like the new system.
I apologize in advance for the delay in getting some of you from "registered" to "pilot"
